Our mission is to impact and change the lives of underprivileged children in rural areas in Cameroon and designated places in Africa by providing tools for free education and basic healthcare.
Our sanitary care, reproductive health education and pads distribution event was postponed last year because of the travel and shipping restrictions.
March 5th 2021 is the date!!
We raised $1675 and more than 120 girls will benefit from your generosity.
Today is a kickoff of our new campaign. $5 Friday!
Care to join us to send more children to school.
We would love you to be part of the team creating true change for underprivileged children.
Together we truly can create a better world.
Freddy wants to grow up and become a policeman. He is six years old and lives in Cameroon in a very poor village called Lindoi. Freddy lives with his 10-year-old sister and his dad. Freddy’s mother abandoned them when he was only two years old.
It is heartbreaking to see Freddy’s life; he doesn't have anyone to care for him. He lives like an orphan even though his dad is in the home. This boy, though young, is able to articulate that he feels alone and abandoned by his parents. He goes days without eating or showering and to avoid death by starvation, he sometimes gets food from his neighbors.
Despite his near tragic life, Freddy loves school; though sadly, before we met him, he did not have the resources like clothes, shoes, and books to go very often. With the help of Mouna Dreams, through his sponsor Rebecca, Freddy now has everything he needs to attend school for the next FIVE years! He is only 1 of the 5 children that Rebecca is sponsoring, in addition, her partner is sponsoring 10 children over the next 5 years.
It does not cost very much to send a child to school in rural Cameroon. Your sponsorship will include tuition, books, school uniform, and more. Please click here to find out how you can sponsor your own beautiful child filled with promise.
Freddy finally feels like there is someone in his life who cares about him and his future. Someone that will support him and help him fight all the difficulties and achieve his dream of becoming a policeman.
In Cameroon, there are so many kids like Freddy. Kids with big dreams for the future. You can change the trajectory of their lives and make their dreams come true!
Julienne is seven years old. She lives in a remote village in Cameroon with her disabled mother, her sister Christine, and two other siblings. When Julienne's mother can afford to send her to school (she walks three miles to get there, some days without a morsel of food), she is a straight-A student. But when we met her in 2019, her family had no money so she wasn't attending school. They were all just trying their best to make it in the world with very few resources.
If you ask her, Julienne will tell you that all she wants is to work so that she can help her mother financially. She wants to become a nurse. But before she could even think about nursing as a profession, Julienne needed books, food, clothes, shoes, a bed, electricity, water, and basic healthcare like vaccinations.
Thanks to Mouna Dreams and our supporters Sarah and Laurie, both Julienne and her sister Christine will be attending school for the next FIVE years! Sponsorship through Mouna Dreams covers all tuition costs, books, shoes, uniforms, and more.
There are many children in Julienne’s village with dreams as big as hers. But because they live in rural Cameroon, unfortunately, their obstacles are also big. We hope that you will lend these children a helping hand. Through your help and kindness, you can show them that being poor is NOT an insurmountable obstacle for advancement in life.
Madeleine a fourteen-year-old , shared her story that is common to too many. Instead of sanitary pads, she had to use old cloths from her mother and aunt during her menstruation period. Such practice fails to offer proper protection and prevents the girl from attending school. Every month, Madeleine would stay home and help with house works; she could only return to school once her menstrual cycle finishes.
To girls like Madeleine, nine months of school is reduced to only seven months.
Your $10 gift will equip one girl with the supplies she needs to stay in school the entire year and show her that period is not a shame and disgrace.
The focus of Mouna Dreams, therefore, needs not only to bring more children into school but also to improve the quality of their lives.
Mouna Dreams identified 7 ways to improve education in Cameroon.
